Biography : Cristiano Ronaldo Cristiano Ronaldo was born on February 5 1985 in Madeira. He was born to  Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro  and  José Dinis Aveiro . His name Ronaldo is after U.S President  Ronald Reagan . Cristiano Ronaldo said that he lived in poverty as a child. At the age of 14, he decided to completely focus on Football. He was signed to Sporting CP as a child. During his time at Sporting, he showed tremendous potential. He even caught the eye of major clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool. But he was signed by Manchester United.  Sir Alex Fergusson  was impressed with Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance in a friendly match in Lisbon in 2003 he was transferred for £12.24 Million.
